As we move into 2012 I am more than ever convinced of something. “New Year, Same Message!” As we move into this new year the message must continue to be the same. Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene must be committed now more than ever to our mission of “helping all people become passionate followers of Jesus Christ.” Our corporate vision is that of “connecting people to the true hope found in Jesus Christ.” Our leadership, including pastors, administration and boards, as well as every teacher, worker and attender must understand that we are about the business of God’s mission and vision for our church. Everything else is a distraction to the purpose God has planted His church here for.

In the future, this blog will be dedicated to ongoing stories of those who are being led to Jesus Christ by our church family. Stories like that of Bob Darst, uncle to Sherri Stiers and Catrina Crabtree, who was recently diagnosed with stage four liver cancer. Matt walls went to visit him with the intention of sharing the plan of salvation with him. On January 1st Bob Darst prayed the sinners prayer and officially connected to the true hope found in Jesus Christ. Amazing! On Wednesday, January 4th, Bob Darst closed his eyes on earth and opened them in heaven. Wonder where he would be spending eternity if someone hadn’t taken the time to share the Gospel with him?

If you have any new stories of people connected to our church accepting Christ please contact me.

See You Soon!

Just watched the end of the movie “Saving Private Ryan” and I must admit it brought me to tears. The movie is set in France during WWII. The defense department receives notice that a family currently has four sons serving in the war. Three of those brothers have been killed.. Their fourth son is somewhere in France. The army decides that no mother should suffer the tragedy of losing four sons to war. So they send a team after this last son; Private Ryan. In the course of saving Private Ryan, the team had to overcome countless obstacles which included the death of many, including their captan, John Miller (Tom Hanks).

The movie ends with dying Captain Miller pulling Private Ryan close and breathing his last words “Earn this!”. In so many words he was telling Ryan that many lives were lost to save his. He needed to live his life in a way that brought honor to those who sacrificed their life for him.

That reminds me of what the Apostle Paul tells us to do as Christians in Philippians 1:27 when he says “only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ”. In other words, we know we can’t earn our salvation, but, like Private Ryan, Jesus sacrificed His life to save ours. We need to live our lives in a way that brings honor to the one who sacrificed His life for us.

“GOD IS… FATHER”
What words would you use to describe the ideal father? Today I want to paint a picture of God’s attributes as our Father. Regardless of where you are in your relationship with Him, He loves you, is patient with you and wants to draw you to Himself.</itunes:summary>
